Now that you’ve added funds on your Koho account, your brand new Koho Visa card is on its way. But once you receive your card, what’s next? You can use your new Koho card for your daily coffee, buy something off of Amazon, or book a flight to Santorini – the possibilities are endless.
To help get you started, here are some of the top questions we’ve received from our customers on how to use your Koho Visa card:
How long does it take for me to receive my Koho card?
After you’ve signed up and added funds to your Koho account, your Koho Visa card will arrive in the mail in 10 business days. If your card doesn’t arrive in the mail by the 10th business day (excluding weekends and statutory holidays), reach out to us via our in-app chat or firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll be happy to look into it for you.
Where can I use my Koho Visa Card?
Just like any other Visa credit card, your Koho Visa card works wherever Visa is accepted by the merchant (anywhere in the world), and is protected under Visa’s Zero Liability Policy. You can use your card for both online and in-person purchases!
Do I tell merchants that this is a debit or credit card?
When you’re ready to pay for your purchase, have the cashier register your Koho Visa card as a credit card*.
*Please note that you may be required to sign for some purchases with our swipe cards. Our Chip & PIN cards (with tap functionality) are coming very soon, so stay tuned for more updates on that.
How do I take out cash with my Koho Visa card?
With Koho, you’ll have access to over 8,500 fee-free ATMs across Canada within the Koho network (powered by DC Bank). You can find any DC Bank ATM at most convenience stores, gas stations, restaurants, or you can use our ATM Finder to find a Koho partner ATM near your current location.
Does this help me build my credit?
Unfortunately, because we’re not a bank, we do not provide credit like a regular credit card, so your Koho Visa card will not help build credit – but we don’t hurt it either.
As your Koho card is a pre-paid Visa card, it is meant to be used as a smart spending card, so you only spend what you have on your Koho account. We are also working on our rewards program, so stay tuned on how you can save more with Koho!
Can I dispute a transaction that was charged incorrectly?
Yes, however, keep in mind that if you had made a purchase at a spa, salon, or restaurant, some merchants will put a pre-authorization hold of 15-20% on top of the total charge. This is to ensure there are enough funds on your card for tips/gratuities, even if a tip has already been added to the total charge. As this is only a pre-authorization hold, the correct amount should settle automatically within 5-14 business days.
We recommend you keep your receipt in a safe place in case it doesn’t, at which point you will need to go to the merchant for a reimbursement. This happens to credit cards as well, but since you see all your transactions in real-time in Koho, these kinds of transactions are more noticeable. Reach out to us through our in-app chat or at email@example.com if you have any further questions on this.
What should I do if I suspect that someone is using my card?
If you suspect any fraudulent purchases made on your Koho Visa card, you can lock your card in seconds under the Settings on your Koho app. Be sure to reach out to our support team via in-app chat or firstname.lastname@example.org so we can investigate further.
How long does it take for a refund to show up on my Feed?
Depending on the merchant, it can take 3-14 business days for a refund to show on your feed. Just like with pre-authorization holds, we recommend that you keep your receipt in a safe place to ensure you have a record of your refund being processed by the merchant.
With Koho, you can spend smarter and save up for the things that matter to you the most. If we missed anything here, be sure to reach out to our support team and we’ll be happy to help.
